This Week in Headlines

The last week of November has certainly been an eventful one.
The Ukraine peace plan suggested by the US kept dominating the headlines. On Sunday 23rd November, Ukraine and US officials met in Geneva to discuss possible amendments to the 28-point peace plan. US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, denied any claims that the plan proposed by Trump was written by Kremlin. However, later on in the week it was revealed that in October Steve Witkoff, Special Envoy to the Middle East, and Jared Kushner, Trump's son-in-law, met up in Miami with Kirill Dmitriev, close Russian ally, to work on the proposals. Zelensky is well aware that accepting the plan as it is would mean losing Ukraine's sovereignty. The revised version didn't include the territorial claims that Russia demanded, among other changes.
As a result of an air attack in Beirut, Lebanon's capital, Israel killed a senior member of the millitant group Hezbollah. Lebanon's health ministry reported that five people were killed and 28 wounded.
26 November marks the day when Rachel Reeves, the UK Chancellor of the Exchecker, released the Autumn Budget. It included freezing personal tax thresholds, raising the minimum wage or council tax raise on England's most expensive properties.
The Hong Kong fire was one of the most discussed tragedies of the week. Seven of the eight 32-floor blocks in Tai Po district set on fire.
Trump made claims on his social media that he believes the airspace above and surrounding Venezuela should be closed. The announcement comes as a continuation of US President's war against drug trafficking. Since September, US forces carried 21 strikes in the Caribbean and Pacific against alleged drug boats. The Venezuelan government speculates that that Trump's efforts against the country could be to depose recently re-elected President Nicolás Maduro.
